Relieving the doubts surrounding LED tubes
We all know by now how beneficial LED lighting can be. In an environmental way, it helps decrease our ecological footprint due to the clean energy it uses. In an economical way, it offers light sources that earn back their investment quickly by lasting longer and using less energy than conventional lighting. Still, people have doubts about switching to LED. In this blog, we are going to relieve some of these doubts so you can feel completely comfortable with making your lighting fit for the future!

“I heard that LED tubes have questionable colour rendering”
It is no secret that in the beginning LED lighting could not compete with the colour rendering of conventional tubes. In the worst case, LED tubes in a larger lighting system differed in their light colours and could therefore create an inconsistent light display. Fortunately, this is not the case anymore! Many, if not all of them, have a colour rendering of 80 Ra and higher. Furthermore, at Any-Lamp we make sure that we only offer LED tubes that are the best of the best. This means, you will not find any LED tubes below 80 Ra in our shop! What's more, LED technology has evolved in such a way that the light emitted by LED tubes in a larger lighting system, always match each other to create an even light display.
“Fluorescent tubes already have a long lifespan, why should I care about LED?”
Fluorescent tubes do have a long lifespan. However, the lifespan of an LED tube is not just a bit longer, it is a lot longer. For places such as warehouses that have tubes burning for long periods of time, this advantage over fluorescent tubes is not to be underestimated. Another thing that makes LED tubes special is the fact that the light output stays equally bright throughout its lifespan. While the light output of a fluorescent tube deteriorates in brightness over its lifespan, the output of an LED tube stays bright for a long time!
“Are LED tubes even compatible with the fixtures that I already own?"
When replacing your fluorescent tubes with LED, compatibility is always something you should be mindful of. In recent years, there have been an abundance of LED tubes released that are specifically designed to overcome compatibility issues. Product lines like Philips Instantfit and Osram SubstiTube all consist of LED tubes that can replace fluorescent tubes without any issues. In addition, there are many LED tubes with a rotatable base which are easier to place in older fixtures.
Tip:
When replacing fluorescent tubes, always check the fixture to see what kind of ballast it using. Conventional ballasts (EM) work with starters, while electronic ballasts (HF) do not need an external starter to work. For both types of ballasts, there are appropriate LED replacements. There are even universal replacements that work with both.
While the doubts mentioned in this blog are things that you should always be aware of, we hope that we have provided you with enough information to relieve you of them! There was indeed a time when LED tubes were not up to par compared to the quality set by fluorescent tubes, but as LED technology has developed, this is no longer the case. When you purchase an LED tube from our assortment, you will be assured of high quality, great energy savings and a long lifespan. So, stop hesitating and make the switch today!
