What is a T8 LED tube?
The T8 LED tube has a G13 fitting, which can be recognized by the two pins at both ends of the light source. There is a distance of 13 millimeters between these pins. An LED tube generates light by means of a diode. This is because the electrons in the diode constantly move in the semiconductor of the light source.
T8 LED fluorescent tubes are the most popular LED tubes on the market. The light sources are available in many sizes and brands, including the top brands Philips, Osram en Noxion.
What do I need to consider when changing from T8 TL to LED?
Conventional T8 fluorescent tubes work optimally by using a conventional (EM) ballast with a starter or an electronic (HF) ballast. When changing to LED, always ensure that the T8 LED tube uses the same ballast. If the LED light source has a conventional ballast, you must replace the old starter with an LED starter.
It is also possible that you buy a T8 LED fluorescent tube, where the specifications of the product speak of mains (AC) or universal (UN). Mains means that the light source can be directly connected to the mains and therefore does not require a ballast. UN T8 LED tubes can be connected to both types of ballasts.
Which LED fluorescent tube with G13 fitting do I need?
To choose the right T8 (TL-D) LED tube, you should take the following points into account:
- Length of the tube - T8 LEDs are available in 30cm, 60cm, 90cm, 120cm and 150cm.
- Light color - Very warm white (2700K), warm white (3000K or 3300K), cool white (4000K), and daylight white (6500K).
- Wattage old fluorescent tube - The light source replaces one on one 18W, 30W, 36W, and 58W fluorescent tubes.

What are the advantages of this light source?

- If there is a protective cap on the fixture, remove it.
- Remove the old fluorescent tube from the fixture; if present, also remove the starter.
- If necessary, place the LED starter in the fixture.
- Push the T8 LED into the fixture with both hands and turn it a quarter turn.
- Switch the power back on to test your new light source.
