LED Recessed Fixtures
What is a recessed fixture?
A luminaire is a supporting structure for one or more light sources, which not only provides protective housing but also connects to the mains. The distinguishing feature of a recessed LED luminaire is that it is not placed against, but into the ceiling. You can choose an LED integrated fixture or housing where a separate light source is screwed into the socket, such as a recessed fixture GU10. You can view and/or purchase various LED bulbs via this link.
Why should I choose a recessed LED luminaire?
A recessed luminaire has several advantages of its own. These include a sleek design that is part of your ceilingand the fact that it is less vulnerable ; to being dropped from the ceiling. However, having an LED light source brings further advantages:
- Save up to 70% on your energy consumption, so that your investment will pay for itself in no time.
- The long lifespan of LED reduces maintenance and replacement costs.
- enjoy years of flicker-free lighting, which reduces or even eliminates light pollution.
- As LED does not contain any harmful substances, these light sources can be recycled without any problems!
What types of recessed fixtures are there?
Any-Lamp offers three types of recessed LED luminaires: LED panels, LED downlights and LED spotlights. An LED panel is an ideal alternative to a recessed fluorescent light fixture, which is often incorporated into a suspended ceiling. However, this is not the only way in which a panel can be attached. This can also be done with a surface-mounted frame or pendant set. Read all about it in our blog on the installation of LED panels
LED downlights and LED recessed lights can be used as general lighting or accent lighting, depending on the room, in terms of surface area and ceiling height. This is also due to the beam angle, about which you can read more here. Whereas downlights can only be installed in the ceiling, recessed spotlights are available as recessed and surface-mounted luminaires.
What is this recessed lighting suitable for?
Because of the various light colours (2700K - 6500K) and degree angles (narrow to very wide), these recessed luminaires can be used in a wide variety of ways. You can think of offices, retail, restaurants, homes, health care and other work environments (beauty salons, hairdressers etc.). The table below shows you which light source is best suited to your environment.
Good to know! The division in the second column focuses on LED downlights and recessed lights. LED panels have a very wide angle beam as standard and are therefore always used for general lighting.
|Color temperature (Kelvin)||Beam Angle (°/D)||Application Area|
|2700K -Very Warm White||Small to Medium (0 - 40°/D)||Accent lighting for the hospitality industry or homes|
|Wide to very wide (41°/D or bigger)||Regular lighting for the hospitality industry or homes|
|3000K - Warm White||Small to Medium (0 - 40°/D)||Accent lighting for the catering industry, retail, homes or general areas (canteens, halls, corridors, waiting rooms, etc.)|

|Wide to very wide (41°/D or bigger)||Healthcare, drawing rooms, spray rooms and other detailed work environments as general lighting.|
Can a recessed luminaire be installed outdoors?
Whether a recessed luminaire can be used outdoors depends on the IP value of the housing. For outdoor areas that are still partially sheltered, such as a seating area under a canopy or a (screened) balcony, IP44 or IP54 (splash proof) is sufficient. However, if the light source comes into direct contact with water, due to heavy rainfall or water jets, a protection class of IP65 (watertight) is a better choice. See all LED (IP65) waterproof recessed luminaires via this link.
What are DALI recessed LED luminaires?
The DALI system means that light sources can be grouped together and set as a group. This includes collective dimming, automatic on/off switching of light sources and a certain light intensity depending on the presence of personnel. You can think of DALI recessed luminaires as smart lighting for businesses. At Any-Lamp, you will find a range of DALI luminaires from the top brands Noxion, Philips en LEDvance.
