What should you pay attention to when buying LED Streetlights?
Colour temperature:
2700 Kelvin - Extra Warm White → LED street lights with an extra warm white colour temperature have a very high red component.
3000 Kelvin - Warm White → Warm white light creates a pleasant atmosphere. Because this colour temperature contains fewer red components, 3000K is more suitable for daily use. Conventional street luminaires often have this light color and are therefore often used when switching to LED.
4000 Kelvin - Cool White → A cool white color temperature is used in most cases for street lighting with LEDs. The neutral light colour helps with orientation and shows you where to go.
6500 Kelvin - Daylight White → A colour temperature of 6,500 Kelvin is very close to daylight. Therefore, this light colour is often used for street lighting that is also intended to protect against burglaries. The bright light deters uninvited guests - whether they are people or animals.
Protection class (IP value):
LED street lights must be weatherproof and robust. Whether it rains, snows hail, or storms - none of this should harm the luminaires. To ensure that the street lights can withstand the weather conditions, they must have an IP rating of 65 to 67. The difference lies in the second digit, which indicates the degree of protection against water. The first figure (6) indicates that the products are both dustproof and fully protected against touch. In order to prevent vandalism, the impact protection should not be too low either. From an IK class of 5 upwards, street lighting can withstand a fist blow.
