Why should I choose DALI fixtures?
Over the years the management of lighting systems has achieved significant progress. The era of switching the light on and off with a conventional switch has passed. Today there are advanced systems like DALI that offer several advantages such as automatic on and off switch, localization of potential malfunctions and much more.
What is DALI exactly?
DALI is an acronym that stands for Digital Addressable Lighting Interface. It is an international standard of communication between lighting controllers and light sources which allows you to manage the whole lighting system. It has been developed by the largest light sources producers like Osram, Philips, Tridonic and Helvar, but it is also compatible with other producers’ lights.
What are the advantages?
DALI allows for an absolute lighting control. By doing so, it becomes possible to group or isolate a number of fixtures and memorize that setting. For instance, it is possible to create different scenarios in each office.
This smart interface is also managing information related to the status of the lights: the automatic on and off switch, intensity of the light and the operational conditions. Furthermore, it allows you to detect failures in the electrical system through a regular collection of messages about the status of each fixture. These settings may be changed at any time, without manually intervention on the fixture.
In addition to the technical advantages, DALI integrated fixtures offer high savings on energy and maintenance costs. An optional motion sensor and the light dimming help optimize energy efficiency and significantly reduce electricity bills. Also its maintenance is improved compared to previous light systems. It is very intuitive and easy to use. Thanks to the convenience and reduced number of commands, once set up the whole lighting system is managed automatically.
DALI advantages
- Light settings adjustment
- Quick localisation of system failures
- Creation of different scenarios
- No manual intervention
Is DALI compatible with all lights?
This communication system is not proprietary, which means it can also be safely used with other light fixtures that have not been produced by the creators of DALI. Moreover, this international interface is compliant with the standards IEC 60929 and IEC 62386. These regulations guarantee the compliance of DALI with light sources of other producers.
Where can I use DALI light fixtures?
Fixtures with integrated DALI may be installed in open space offices, conference rooms, warehouses, factories, shopping centres, schools and homes. It allows you to create the perfect atmosphere for carrying different activities in the same space.
